No fewer than 13 persons have been killed following fresh attacks by suspected herdsmen in Azege settlement, Mbaya, Tombo Ward, Logo LGA of Benue State.
The immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Logo LGA, Benjamin Uzenda, who confirmed the development to The Nation, said the attack was carried out on Sunday morning around 7:00 am.
It was gathered that the attacks involved arson and the destruction of farmlands and crops in the area.

Confirming the incident, Uzenda said: “They (herdsmen) were armed with sophisticated weapons and immediately opened fire on residents who were preparing to attend morning church service.
“It looks like coordinated, planned attacks as they opened fire on the harmless villagers, butchered some bodies after shooting them, and gunned down women and children.
“The invaders operated for hours and fled before security personnel arrived at the scene.”
In other news, there was mild pandemonium in Ukpata and Opanda communities in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State caused by the killing of two young men by suspected herdsmen over the weekend.
A yet-to-be-identified student of Nsukka High School was shot at Ukwuakpu, between Ukpata and Uvuru communities. According to reports, the student was pleading with the herdsmen not to rape his sister when he was shot.
The Eastern Updates was reliably informed that the rape victim is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Another victim fell to the bullets of the nomads at Opanda, all in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was coming from Adani to Opanda when he ran into the rampaging herdsmen and was killed in cold blood.
