Edo Assembly Approves 20 Special Advisers For Okpebholo

The Edo House of Assembly, on Tuesday, approved the request for the appointment of 20 Special Advisers by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Okpebholo, in the letter by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Musa Ikhilor, stated that the appointment was for the smooth running of his administration.

The motion to approve the request was moved during plenary by the Majority Leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian. It was seconded by the Minority Leader, Eric Okaka.

Aiguobarueghian said that Section 196 (2) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, empowered the governor to appointment special advisers.

In a unanimous decision, the lawmakers approved the appointment of 20 Special Advisers for Okpebholo.

The lawmakers also received another letter from the governor for the confirmation of Mr. Emmanuel Okoebor as Commissioner for Finance.

In other news, Governor Monday Okpebholo has officially given his approval to a revised supplementary budget worth N485 billion, which was recently passed by the Edo State House of Assembly.

The signing took place on Monday in the state capital, Benin City, and it marks a significant step in the state’s financial planning. The newly approved budget is set to address key financial priorities and drive the ongoing development projects across Edo State.

The governor, in acknowledging the rapid passage of the bill, extended his heartfelt thanks to the lawmakers who were present at the Government House. His words of appreciation emphasized the swift and coordinated effort of the legislators in moving the document forward for the benefit of the state.
