Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has expressed a resolute belief that the battle against banditry is approaching its final stages, encouraging the military to work in close coordination with ground forces and other critical partners to decisively defeat the enemies that seek to destabilize the country.

Fueled by the recent victories in the Northwest, where Nigerian Air Force troops executed a series of strategic operations, his confidence has soared, following the disruption of numerous bandit hideouts within the past week.

During a formal event on Monday, the Minister, together with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, launched two additional ATAK-129 Helicopters into active service with Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2, at the NAF Airport Wing in Katsina State.

He elaborated that the two newly inducted helicopters offer significant strategic advantages over other fighter jets, ensuring that no enemy can evade justice. These helicopters have been specifically deployed to target and eliminate bandits and other criminal elements that threaten the peace, stability, and economic prosperity of the Northwest Region.

He further lauded the extraordinary courage, dedication, and commitment of the troops, noting the personal sacrifices they have made in the ongoing struggle to ensure Nigeria’s future remains secure. The Minister expressed optimism, believing that the results of their hard work and perseverance are beginning to manifest in meaningful ways, contributing to the nation’s long-term security.

The Minister also pointed out the tangible improvements being seen, with farmers steadily reclaiming their land, children heading back to school, businesses thriving, and everyday Nigerians enjoying a newfound sense of peace and security, free from the relentless fear that once clouded their lives.

“We salute you for the personal sacrifice you have been making, leaving behind your families and comfort of your homes to secure our collective future.

“We are grateful, we will remain committed to provide you and your families the necessary resources in ensuring that you receive the best incentives and other benefits.

“With the induction of these new critical platforms, and the quality of officers and men operating them, I am confident that it will make Nigerians proud. Together, we will dominate the battle space and achieve successful results.

“The unique set of the air components deployed, has capacity. It speeds, reaches, precision to ensure that no enemy can hide from justice. And the long arm of the law will reach those who want to destroy our peace.

“I urge you to synergize with ground forces and other stakeholders to ensure maximum effect. Be fast towards safer and strong Nigeria. Synergy must remain the watchword to enable us defeat the enemies of the country.

“I am satisfied with the recent efforts made by the troops. We have seen tremendous success in the last one week where several Bandits’ hideouts were destroyed as a result of various platforms deployed. And if this continues we will finish banditry soon.

“We assure them of Federal Government readiness to continue to support them and their families.

“The end is near. We need maximum cooperation, intelligence and prayers from the public”, he noted.
