The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has expressed grave concern, accusing unnamed individuals of deliberately sabotaging the government’s initiatives aimed at addressing the growing security threats across the nation.
This accusation highlights the internal resistance that security forces face while trying to mitigate the violent insurgencies affecting various regions.
He revealed that while he chose not to disclose the identities of those involved, these individuals were actively engaged in every possible effort to frustrate the government’s initiatives, working against the nation’s collective goal of improving security and stability.
“There are certain individuals trying to make it impossible for the government to succeed. They are doing everything possible to sabotage the efforts of the government. That will not happen,” he stated.
Gen. Musa confidently declared that the efforts of these individuals would not succeed, stressing that they would not be allowed to achieve their objectives.
His comments were made on Saturday after he received 58 kidnapped victims, who had been rescued, from the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for transfer to the Kaduna State Government.
According to information obtained by The Eastern Updates, the victims were abducted from their homes and farmlands across multiple villages, including Gayam, Sabon Layi, and Kwaga, located in the Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The 1 Division troops managed to free 35 males and 23 females from captivity on November 14, 2024, in a successful rescue operation.
Musa stressed that contrary to the belief of many Nigerians, not all who were involved in banditry joined willingly.
According to him, some of them were conscripted, adding that the troops would ensure the perpetrators face the wrath of the law.
Also, Musa added that no kobo was paid for the victims to regain their freedom.

He called on the citizens to support the security agencies in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
The National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre, Maj Gen Adamu Laka, said preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were kidnapped by suspected armed bandits under the command of a notorious bandit called JANBROS.
“During the kidnapping, the victims were made to trek for hundreds of Kilometres to the thick forest of Birnin Gwari.
“The government provided them with all the necessary assistance required to stabilise them for subsequent handing over to ONSA for rehabilitation and immediate medical checkups, where they were examined, and six were admitted.
“However, the six admitted victims have recovered and joined us for subsequent handing over to their respective families,” he added.
