In other news, in response to the House of Representatives’ resolution to examine bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Joint Committees have invited the commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyode, to participate in the investigation.
In a correspondence dated September 27, 2024, the committee requested that the EFCC Chairman and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service attend a meeting on Monday, September 30, along with all officers implicated in the allegations.
The accusations against the anti-graft agency and the Nigeria Correctional Service regarding bribery were sparked by a trending voice recording on social media featuring Idris Okuneye, a crossdresser who was sentenced to six months in prison earlier this year for naira abuse.
