In response to the House of Representatives’ resolution to examine bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Joint Committees have invited the commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyode, to participate in the investigation.
In a correspondence dated September 27, 2024, the committee requested that the EFCC Chairman and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service attend a meeting on Monday, September 30, along with all officers implicated in the allegations.
The accusations against the anti-graft agency and the Nigeria Correctional Service regarding bribery were sparked by a trending voice recording on social media featuring Idris Okuneye, a crossdresser who was sentenced to six months in prison earlier this year for naira abuse.
The popular voice recording alleged that Idris, affectionately known as Bobrisky, paid N15 million to the EFCC to have the money laundering charges dropped and reportedly enjoyed accommodations in a VIP facility rather than serving time in prison.
Additionally, the House Committee is calling upon Bobrisky and social media personality Martins Otse, known as Very Dark Man, who was responsible for releasing the voice recording.
Folakemi Falana, the daughter of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, has vehemently denied bribery and corruption allegations involving her father and her brother, Falz, linked to Bobrisky’s reported prison sentence.
Folakemi confronted the accusations made by VeryDarkMan in an Instagram post, describing them as false and defamatory in nature.
“Two different letters from Falana & Falana on behalf of our clients Femi Falana SAN and Folarin Falz Falana giving VDM 24 hours to retract his extremely defamatory statements or risk legal action,” she captioned.
“It’s even crazier that all it takes is for a ridiculous character like VDM to accuse my dad and Falz of bribery, corruption, and perversion of the course of Justice and you suddenly forget who they are and what they stand for..”
Folakemi addressed the circulating rumors, which social media activist VDM has intensified, asserting that they falsely allege her father and brother were involved in facilitating Bobrisky’s advantageous conditions while incarcerated.

Folakemi also claimed that her family was connected to an alleged scheme involving bribing authorities for a presidential pardon, a rumor she has firmly denied.
She emphasized that Femi Falana has not had any contact with Bobrisky, neither directly nor through a third party, and that her brother, Falz, was approached solely for financial aid to obtain a VIP position during his time in prison.
