Mr. Peter Ogar, the NDLEA State Commander, revealed these figures during a press conference held in Abakaliki on Wednesday, highlighting the agency’s commitment to addressing drug-related issues in the region.

The range of drugs confiscated included minute quantities of crack cocaine (0.0023 kg), a substantial quantity of Cannabis Sativa (55.492 kg), codeine syrup (0.393 kg), along with tramadol tablets and capsules.

Collectively, the total weight of all these drugs surpassed 115 kilograms, illustrating the serious challenges law enforcement faces in combating drug trafficking in the area.

Between July and September, the state witnessed a wave of arrests and drug confiscations across various regions. Ogar indicated that the 149 suspects apprehended included 112 men and 37 women, aged between 26 and 72 years. These individuals were involved in drug dealing, trafficking, and usage, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the drug problem in the area.
