Following its aggressive strike on Israel on Tuesday evening, Iran has opted to extend the closure of its airspace, bracing for anticipated retaliatory measures from the Israeli government. This decision illustrates the fragile state of relations between the two nations and the volatile nature of the ongoing conflict.

Citing the need for enhanced security, the state news agency ISNA reported that all flights have been cancelled until 5 a.m. (0130 GMT) on Thursday. An aviation authority spokesperson emphasized that this suspension is a necessary step to ensure the safety of air traffic amid increasing concerns.

Following a barrage of missile strikes launched at Israel on Tuesday evening, Iran has taken the precautionary measure of closing its airspace over Tehran, leading to the cancellation of all flights until Wednesday morning. This decision underscores the heightened tensions in the region as authorities prioritize security.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has made it clear that the missile strikes were a response to the assassinations of significant leaders—Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian general. This rationale illustrates Iran’s commitment to countering what it views as an assault on its allies and interests in the region.

According to Iranian officials, the recent missile strike was aimed at three key Israeli air bases, in addition to the central headquarters of Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence service.

This action highlights Iran’s strategic focus on crippling Israel’s defense infrastructure while sending a bold message regarding its military ambitions.
