The Asue Ighodalo Campaign Team’s Director General, Matthew Idoiyekemwem, has publicly accused Senator Adams Oshiomhole of engaging in electoral manipulation tactics during the recent Edo State governorship election, sparking concerns about the legitimacy of the electoral process.
Allegations of electoral interference have surfaced, with Idoiyekemwem, Asue Ighodalo’s campaign leader, asserting that Adams Oshiomhole’s significant influence within the APC is being wielded to secure victory for the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Monday Okpebholo.
The PDP has formally requested the immediate dismissal of Edo State’s REC, Anugbum Onuoha, citing his close familial relationship with Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, as a clear conflict of interest.

A protest erupted on Sunday morning, with Idoiyekemwem, Asue Ighodalo’s campaign chief, leading the charge and making explosive claims of electoral interference, pointing fingers at high-profile individuals in Edo State’s governing circles.
Although the field is crowded with 17 hopefuls, analysts concur that the real contest lies among three dominant figures: Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, Monday Okpebholo of the APC, and Olumide Akpata of the LP, who are poised to dominate the electoral sphere.
In terms of party strongholds, the APC has current senators in Edo North (Adams Oshiomhole) and Edo Central (Okpebholo) while the Labour Party’s senator Neda Imasuen is from Edo South where Akpata hails from.
