Law enforcement agents in Kaduna State have made a significant arrest, taking into custody a suspected gunrunner and seizing a substantial cache of 20 AK-47 rifles, aiming to reduce violence and criminal activity.
A Thursday patrol at Buruku Bridge in Igabi LGA yielded a notable arrest, as police intercepted a black Golf III saloon car driven by Plateau State native Bitrus Gyang from Bakin Ladi, according to details released by Command Public Relations Officer Mansir Hassan.

The suspect’s vehicle yielded a disturbing haul when officers conducted a detailed search, unearthing 20 improvised AK-47 rifles and an empty Type 06 magazine clandestinely stored in the trunk, underscoring the severity of the seized arsenal.
Police officials disclosed that the suspect, facing intense scrutiny, confessed to his involvement in gunrunning and shockingly revealed a pattern of illicit activity, having transported fake firearms on no fewer than three previous occasions.
The ongoing probe has received a significant boost, as the suspect has begun providing authorities with vital information, while a concerted effort is underway to identify, locate, and apprehend remaining accomplices tied to the illicit firearms operation.
