At least three Christian worshipers have been reported dead following an unprovoked attack by unknown daredevil bandits in Bakinpah-Maro, a community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

About 31 persons including a pastor were also reported to have been kidnapped when the assailants launched the attack targeting ECWA and Catholic churches in the community.

Caino said the bandits who arrived around 10 am in large numbers, shot sporadically targeting the two churches in the community.

He disclosed that a pastor of one of the churches Bernard Gajera, was among those kidnapped by the criminal elements.

In another news, the Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has given security agencies a 48-hour deadline to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder of Chief Stephen Aniagu, the leader of the Ogbete Main Market Traders Association. The governor’s directive comes as the community demands justice for the slain chairman.

The governor reiterated his commitment to keeping Enugu State safe, vowing that those responsible for Chief Aniagu’s murder would face justice. He also commended the family and OMMATA for their resilience, acknowledging the immense pain caused by the loss.

The deadly attack that claimed Chief Aniagu’s life unfolded on Saturday evening, with unidentified perpetrators striking on the outskirts of Enugu.

Reacting to the development on Sunday, Mbah said, “My heart grieves over the brutal murder of the Chairman of OMMATA, the late Chief Stephen Aniagu. This is a sad loss, not only to OMATTA as a body, but also to the entire state.

The governor said: “In the meantime, I have directed security agencies in the state to produce his killers within 48 hours. As we have always maintained, and every merchant of death or criminal in the state ought to know by now, that we have demonstrated the capacity to bring them to book.

“We have the will, technology, and resources to pursue, track down, overtake, and defeat such workers of wickedness.

“Therefore, those who committed this atrocity have bitten more than they can chew. They have murdered sleep, hence neither they nor the government and security agencies will sleep until all the perpetrators are captured and justice served in accordance with the law sooner than later.”

Commiserating with Chief Aniagu’s family, community, and OMMATA, the governor noted that the late market leader served his community, the association, and Enugu State creditably.
