The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a comprehensive investigation into a viral video that appears to show a female traveler intentionally vandalizing a Nigerian Standard Passport at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, an incident that has sparked outrage and raised questions.
According to a statement released in Abuja, the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Kenneth Udo, revealed that the Nigeria Immigration Service has launched an investigation into the incident.
According to DCI Udo, the individual involved in the incident has been identified and has received an invitation to participate in a further investigation, allowing authorities to gather more information.

“If the allegations are substantiated, her actions would have constituted a breach of Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), with corresponding penalties outlined under Section 10(h) of the same Act.
He affirmed that the Nigeria Immigration Service stood firm in its resolve to implement the Immigration Act’s provisions, safeguarding the nation’s well-being and protecting the credibility and legitimacy of its statutory documents.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the provisions of the Immigration Act in the interest of national security, and to preserving the dignity and integrity of the nation’s legal instruments”, he stated.
