Imo State is now under a fortress-like security blanket, courtesy of the Inspector General of Police, who has unleashed a fleet of helicopters to scan the skies and patrol the streets, leaving no room for criminal activity.

On a mission to instill confidence in the public, Police Commissioner Aboki Danjuma embarked on a patrol tour of Owerri on Friday, personally guaranteeing the protection of lives and properties, and demonstrating his commitment to keeping the city safe.

Speaking on the second day of nationwide protests, Danjuma said, “We are on the second day of deployment on convoy patrol, comprising the military, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other agencies, aimed at protecting all Imolites.”

Commissioner Danjuma further emphasized that Imo State has remained protest-free, and as a precautionary measure, security personnel have been strategically deployed across the state, including rural local government areas, to uphold law and order and prevent any potential disturbances.

The introduction of helicopter patrols and aerial surveillance represents a significant upgrade in the security apparatus, aimed at ensuring the well-being of citizens and preempting any possible disruptions to law and order.

In another development on Tuesday, gunmen shot dead a young man at Amawire, close to Imo State University junction and set ablaze a refuse disposal truck belonging to the Eastern Waste Management Agency.

This is even as a man was gunned down at Nwaoreubi by fleeing gunmen.

The situation took a dark turn on Wednesday, as intense shootings erupted across the state, triggering a mass flight of residents, who streamed out of their homes and neighborhoods in search of safety and security.
