To foster a spirit of camaraderie and empowerment, the Collective Hope And Light-hearted Youths Empowerment Association has initiated a football competition, engaging teams from the five South-East states of Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi.
Chukwuemeka Kenneth, President of the Collective Hope And Light-hearted Youths Empowerment Association, underscored the primary objectives of the football competition during its launch on Monday, highlighting the need to restore peace and unity in the South-East region.
Chukwuemeka Kenneth further revealed that the Local Organising Committee is working diligently to ensure the tournament meets its primary goal of uniting the people of the South-East sister states, fostering a sense of regional unity and cooperation.
Nkado Onyebuchi, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, stressed the importance of sports in promoting unity and announced that the Eastern Unity Tournament is open to sponsorship, offering a unique opportunity for sponsors to support regional cohesion.
Nkado Onyebuchi, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, solicited financial support from benevolent Igbo individuals, regretting that the maiden edition of the tournament was thwarted by limited resources.
Appealing for sponsorship and support, Nkado said, “It is true that we didn’t have much finances to run our first edition. It later resulted in the competition suffering a major setback.
“We have so many things already put in place before the kick-off date but due to our limited funds, we were unable to reach there. Through this tournament, some hidden talents would be discovered from those youths living in the rural hinterlands.”
He further explained that every football club in the former Eastern region of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states are eligible for participation.
