A bitter dispute has erupted between Nigerian regulators and Dangote Refinery, with the former alleging that the company is knowingly distributing sub-standard petroleum products.

Dangote Refinery, however, is standing its ground, refuting the claims and maintaining that its products are of the highest caliber.

Through his X handle, Kwankwaso called out vested interests for fabricating a crisis, sparking an “unnecessary fuss” that could have disastrous consequences. He urged calm, warning that this could rattle investor confidence and jeopardize Nigeria’s economic prospects.

“The creation of unnecessary fuss around its integrity by some vested interests is very unfortunate, and it stands to undo all the years of hard work to maintain the fragile investor confidence in our economy,” he said.

Kwankwaso, who led the NNPP’s charge in the 2023 presidential elections, lauded Dangote’s refinery as a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s energy needs and economic stability, recognizing its potential as a key driver of national growth.

Kwankwaso further emphasized the need to safeguard the refinery from any potential threats that could disrupt its operations, ensuring the continued stability of Nigeria’s energy supply and economic growth.

“I was privileged to visit the magnificent Dangote Refinery, and I was marvelled by the sheer commitment that went into the quality of its establishment.

“It’s time for us to rally around this National Asset to ensure that the monumental project does not fail. It cannot fail, and the Nigerian government must understand this by demonstrating fairness and confidence in both domestic and foreign critical investments,” he stated.

Previously, presidential contenders Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi voiced concerns about the escalating dispute between Dangote Industries and certain government bodies, characterizing it as a deeply disturbing development.

In separate posts on X, they lamented that the unfolding saga which is vilifying the Dangote refinery will deter vital foreign direct investment and hurt the economy.

The two presidential candidates urged government agencies to provide unwavering support to the Dangote refinery, highlighting its indispensable role in promoting national welfare and warning that its failure would have far-reaching consequences.
