Police Apprehends Uzodinma’s Ex-Aide Chinasa Nwaneri In Imo

Nze Chinasa Nwaneri who is a former Special Adviser on Special Duties to Governor Hope Uzodinma, has been arrested by a special team of Police detectives in Imo, the state’s capital, The Eastern Updates reports. 

Nwaneri was until recently, one of Uzodinma’s most trusted aides who had been with him for over fifteen years.

Sources who spoke to The Eastern Updates said Nwaneri was arrested at RockView Hotel in Owerri yesterday and taken to the headquarters of the State Police Command.

According to the source who pleaded anonymity, Nwaneri was escorted back to his hotel room during which it was thoroughly searched before he was returned to the police command.

The reason for his arrest was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.

In another report, troops of the Joint Task Force “Operation Udo Ka” have reportedly killed two kidnappers and one suspected member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo State.

They also foiled an attempt to kidnap a law-abiding a man at Umuaka community in Njaba area of Imo.

Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu who is the spokesman of Joint Task Force, who disclosed this in a statement in Enugu on Sunday, said the kidnap was foiled by troops on routine patrol on Friday.

Unuakhalu stated that in the fire fight that ensued, the troops killed one of the kidnappers and injured two others despite their attempt to use passers-by as human shields.

He said the troops while on routine patrol at Umuaka, along Orlu-Owerri Road, were alerted on the kidnap incident and escape route of the kidnappers.

He said: “The troops swiftly pursued the kidnappers and made contact with them.

“The troops recovered one AK 47 rifle with two loaded magazines and a motorcycle,” he said.

The spokesman said that similarly, troops in conjunction with personnel of the Naval Base, Oguta, killed a member of IPOB and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) terrorist group at Amagberedere village in Oguta.
