The leadership of the South East block of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have kicked off consultation with prominent Igbo leaders as a way of making inroads into the zone in upcoming elections.
Ijeomah Arodiogbu who is the South East National Vice Chairman of the party, made this known when he led a delegation of the party leadership in the zone on a courtesy visit to the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe.
Arodiogbu, who addressed the monarch on behalf of the leaders said despite the seeming disapproval of the party by the Igbo, the surest way to link up with the centre and enjoy the dividends of democracy, is to support the APC, assuring that the party has tremendous respect for the traditional institution.

“Let me state that the APC under my watch will always respect and consider traditional rulers as important storehouses of wisdom, and would regularly seek such priceless counsel at all given times,” he said.
Achebe, who received the party leaders thanked Dr. Arodiogbu and his team for the visit, and wished them well in their consultations. Arodiogbu was in company of the APC Zonal Organizing Secretary, Dozie Ikedife, one time senator representing Anambra North, Emma Anosike, and the Vice Chairman, Anambra APC North, Emma Ekwuaju among others.
In a related development, at the forefront of the effort, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi underscores his leadership in spearheading the fight for the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the Ebonyi South Senatorial District’s February 3 by-election.
On Tuesday, Mr. Nwifuru officially announced his candidacy at Afikpo Local Government Area (LGA) during the council’s rally for the upcoming election.
The governor, a representative of Ebonyi North Senatorial District, asserted that he remains fearless, harboring no anxieties about the ultimate outcome of the election.
