The people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District has been appealed to by the Minister of Works, David Umahi to vote for All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi South senatorial candidate, Okorie Anthony Ani, in the Ebonyi South senatorial by-election slated for this weekend.
Umahi represented Ebonyi South in the 10th between June and August 2023 and was deputy Senate leader.
He resigned from the Senate in August 2023 upon his wearing-in as minister of Works on August 21, 2023.
Umahi, who gave the charge during a rap up meeting of Ebonyi South APC’s stakeholders at his residence in Abakaliki, in preparation for the by-election, expressed satisfaction with the popularity of the APC candidate and urged the stakeholders to redouble their efforts to ensure the APC wins overwhelmingly at the election.

He saidL “The president has given the South East a voice. He has fully integrated South East. It is time to reciprocate by making our party number one. What is the senator going to do for us compared to what Mr. President has done for us? So, it is not about the election of the senator. It is about returning gratitude to Mr. President, to the governor and to the party.
“I want to thank all the people from Ebonyi South and, of course, the entire state for their loyalty to the governor and for working with him. He is the leader of the party in the state. He is the leader of government. And we must have to honour him.”
The minister noted that the people of Ebonyi State and, indeed, South East would reap numerous opportunities and democracy dividends by keying into the commendable development master plan of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
He also commended Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for the unity of the party and for hitting the ground running with life-changing programmes and called for unflinching support for the APC administration at all levels.
APC Chairman, Stanley Emegha, thanked the minister for his kind disposition to the affairs of the party and for making the state proud in the manner he discharges his duty as minister and assured the APC would win the 2024 by-election.
