Police Raid Enugu Kidnapper’s Hideout, Arrest Three

Three alleged kidnappers were arrested during a proactive operation by the Enugu State police command in the Centenary City region of Obeagu-Awkunanaw community, Enugu South local government area, based on credible intelligence provided by the Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA).

The discovery suggests that a major block industry has been covertly serving as a haven for criminal elements and their partners to plan and meticulously execute various criminal pursuits, such as armed robbery and kidnapping, throughout Enugu metropolis and its environs.

As per the statement by the spokesperson of the state police command, Daniel Ndukwe, the operational exercise resulted in the apprehension of three male suspects: 39-year-old Emmanuel Nwabundo, 35-year-old Emmanuel Eze, and 30-year-old Anthony Onoche George, while several others managed to evade capture.

In addition, he noted the confiscation of eight pump-action guns, along with four live and twenty-six expended cartridges.

‘Other exhibits recovered include one (1) machete, four (4) units of solar-powered CCTV cameras, thirteen (13) assorted phones, one (1) DVD player, and four (4) bags and clothes, all suspected to be stolen. Also recovered are objects suspected to be charms,’ he said.

Ndukwe disclosed that the suspects shall be arraigned in court once investigations were concluded.

Acknowledging the operational success, Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu underscored the command’s commitment to being proactive and forward-looking in its mission to eradicate unrepentant criminals and their detrimental activities from Enugu State.

In light of this, CP Kanayo urged the public to uphold the law, stay vigilant, and persist in providing the police with reliable and actionable security information, encouraging the reporting of criminals and their activities to the nearest police station.
