Odefa defected from PDP to APC alongside about 500 of his supporters from the Onicha East Constituency.

He made this disclosure at the state’s Government House in Abakaliki during a visit to Governor Ogbonnaya Nwifuru.

Speaking on his defection, Odefa pointed out that his decision to ‘pitch tent with the APC was to rally round the governor in his efforts to transform the state having studied his good intentions as captured in his manifesto.’

Responding, Nwifuru said the door of the APC was wide open to accommodate all well-intentioned individuals into the party.

Nwifuru assured the defectors of a level-playing field in APC.

He also urged them to join hands with him to develop the state.

In another report, as the yuletide approaches, the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, has called on travellers and other Nigerians coming and going out of the state to plan for the season’s travels and expenditures.

He also cautioned them against night travels during the period.

Ndukwe called on Nigerians to travel through a known transportation company, while ensuring they register their details on the manifest.

If you travel by public transport, ensure you travel through a known transportation company.

‘Don’t forget to record your name and details on the travel manifest and send details of the vehicle you travel in to a loved one,’ he said in a statement on his X handle.

To those travelling in their private vehicles, Ndukwe charged them to ensure such vehicles are properly serviced and maintained.

‘Except extremely unavoidable, avoid night travels, Don’t travel through unfamiliar paths,

‘As much as possible, get a security travel advisory on the path you travel and on your destination,’ he advised.

The police spokesman enjoined the people to be prudent and not profligate as they celebrate.
