Soludo: Mbadinuju ‘Will Never Be Forgotten’

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo paid homage to the late Governor Chinwoke Clement Mbadinuju (Odera) during the solemn occasion of his interment as he acknowledged his significant contributions.

Mbadinuju reached the end of his life’s journey at 77 years of age.

Soludo, at the State Commendation ceremony in Awka’s International Convention Centre, expressed appreciation to those who generously invested their time in paying tribute to Odera’s legacy.

He said: ‘On behalf of myself, my family, and the people of Anambra, I extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Mbadinuju for his selfless service to our state,’ and recalled the challenges that Anambra faced during his tenure as Governor, including widespread insecurity and economic hardship.

He commended his endeavors in tackling these issues, lauding the establishment of the State Vigilante Services to counter criminal activities.

He added: ‘In spite of the challenges he faced, Dr. Mbadinuju never gave up on Anambra.’

‘He was a man of faith who believed that things would get better. And they did,’ Governor Soludo said.

Odera’s leadership style, as noted by Governor Soludo, was marked by a profound commitment to prayer, which played a crucial role.

‘Dr. Mbadinuju understood the importance of prayer.’

‘He knew that we could not overcome our challenges without God’s help.’

In his final remarks, Governor Soludo declared that Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju’s presence will persist in our collective consciousness, ensuring he is never forgotten.

‘Dr. Mbadinuju was a true servant of the people.’

‘He will be remembered for his dedication to our state and his unwavering faith in our people’, he said.

At this solemn gathering, the family of the late Governor presented books portraying Mbadinuju’s life, a valuable addition to the State Library, securing the perpetuity of Dr. Mbadinuju’s legacy.

It’s worth noting that Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju served as Anambra State Governor from 1999 to 2003, recognized for setting the stage for the state’s present-day infrastructure.

At the commencement of the event, Dr. ABC Orjiakor extended thanks to Governor Soludo for tirelessly dedicating himself to honoring and celebrating the late Dr. Mbadinuju.

Describing former Governor Mbadinuju, he painted a picture of a God-fearing, humble, easily approachable man, and most notably, one dedicated to serving the people of Anambra.

Governors of Anambra State namely: Dr. Chris Ngige, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, former Deputy Governors, Dr. Chinedu Emeka, Dr. Emeka Sibeudu, Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon somtochukwu Udeze, wife of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Ifeoma Ekwueme, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Members of Anambra State Executive Council, and a host of other dignitaries graced the occasion.
