Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, is dedicated to allocating substantial resources to education, viewing it as a formidable weapon against poverty.

Otti reiterated that through both experience and deep conviction, it has become evident that education stands as the most certain way to liberate individuals from the grip of poverty and the constraints of ignorance.

Otti delivered this message while speaking at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, during the centenary anniversary celebration of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Eastern Nigeria Union Conference, which took place on Sunday.

He praised the SDA church for its contributions to education and various sectors within the state.

Governor Otti stressed his dedication to the youth’s future and shared that his administration is currently examining viable partnership options with the church to improve the quality of life for the state’s inhabitants.

He pointed out that this productive partnership would greatly contribute to expanding educational opportunities for a multitude of young Abia residents.

The governor noted, ‘Our government, just like the church, is very much interested in education, which in my experience and conviction, presents the surest path to overcoming the burden of poverty and the bondages that come with ignorance.’

‘Our government will also be keen to partner with the church in social service areas, particularly health and poverty alleviation, especially for our women in rural communities.’

Otti showed his appreciation to the church for sustaining the legacy of the early leaders of the faith who introduced the church to Eastern Nigeria.

He confirmed that the church has initiated its path for the next 100 years and counseled the members to review their priorities, with special attention to the centenary celebration theme, “Almost Home.”

Ted Wilson, the General Conference President of the SDA, delivered a sermon titled “Almost Home,” where he encouraged all Christians to concentrate on the mission of Jesus Christ and to secure their place in heaven in the end.
