Obosi Community In Anambra Gets New President-General

Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has elected one Barrister Chimezie Obi as the new President-General of Obosi Development Union (ODU).

In the keenly contested town union election held at the Obosi Town Hall yesterday, Barrister Obi emerged winner after polling one hundred and six votes to beat his four rivals.

The Eastern Updates gathered that the process commenced with the accreditation of one hundred and forty-six delegates and candidates by the Obosi Development Union election Committee under the supervision of Anambra State government led by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne.

Addressing the gathering before the election, the Chairman of the election Committee, Sir Dan Igbokwubili said that all arrangements were geared towards the wellbeing of the people of Obosi and commended the candidates for the show of love and commitment towards achieving a livable community.

The Commissioner’s representative, Mr. Tony Onyekaomelu, spoke shortly after the election and expressed satisfaction with the calibre of candidates who were on the ballot and the conduct of the election. He pleaded with the community to maintain the zeal that motivated them to vote in order to support the newly elected executive in order for them to succeed and assured them of the support and partnership of the State government.

Reacting to the outcome of the election, the President of Obosi Development Union Abuja branch, Ambassador Ifeanyi Obelaka praised the preparations made by the Election Committee which clearly reflected the mandate given by the people.

In his acceptance speech, the new President-General, of Obosi Development Union Barrister Obi assured that the community will bounce back as a development-driven community in Anambra State and beyond.
