The chairman of Enyimba International of Aba and Ex-Nigerian international, Nwankwo Kanu, has assured Nigerians that the reigning Nigerian champions would scale the Al Ahli Benghazi hurdle for a place in the next round of the CAF Champions League.

The Eastern Updates recalls that in the match that ended in a seven-goal thriller on Sunday, Al Ahli Benghazi defeated the Peoples Elephants 4-3 to take a slim lead to the reverse leg to be played at in Akwa Ibom International Stadium.

Despite losing the game, the Nigerian champions were able to score three away goals which gave them confidence going into the second.

Hence, the former Nigerian International and UEFA Champions League winner said the players played with determination and all their hearts.

‘Our boys gave their all on the pitch,’ he told EnyimbaFC.net.

“They faced a formidable team and fought with determination and heart.

“The result may not have gone our way, but what matters is the effort and resilience shown by the boys,” Nwankwo stated.

“They did well and I commend them.”

“With what we saw in this game, I’m confident we have what it takes to guarantee qualification when we play the return leg in Aba. The 4-3 scoreline means the second leg will be highly entertaining, something the fans back home would love to watch”, he added.
