Immediate past governor of Ebonyi State who is now the senator representing Ebonyi South, Senator David Umahi, has asserted that the new service chiefs appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are men of proven professional competencies.

According to him, they are people that are combat-ready in tackling insecurity and economic sabotage in Nigeria. Umahi particularly commended Tinubu for appointing the Chief of Naval Staff from the South East Zone.

In a statement signed by him and made available to The Eastern Updates on Wednesday morning, the former governor said he feels deeply obliged to thank the president for the sense of inclusiveness and equity in the appointment of the new service chiefs.

His words; ‘I therefore congratulate and convey my best wishes to them, and hope they will satisfy the yearnings of Nigerians.’

Let me place on record that the appointment of Chief of Naval Staff from South East is record-breaking and is greatly appreciated as a manifest commitment of the Renewed Hope administration of Mr. President in removing barriers that create disparities in nation- building.

‘This is indeed a demonstration of the strong character and reflection of the refreshing candor of the person and leadership of our dear President whose abiding love for the unity and progress of our Nation is unusual.

‘The courage of Mr President’s administration to deregulate the oil sector and mitigate the economic hardship that face the nation is a major milestone in his gallant march towards the economic prosperity of Nigeria.

‘It calls for understanding and cooperation by all stakeholders to make our economy work.

‘While wishing Mr. President greater heights in the Renewed Hope agenda for Nigeria, I pray God to bless the contributions of the newly appointed service chiefs in the service of our fatherland,’ he submitted.
