The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru on Tuesday swore in no fewer than 35 new commissioners into office while warning them to take their job seriously, noting that the saying ‘to err is human and to forgive is divine’ will not apply in his administration.

Nwifuru, who made the statement while swearing in the commissioners and other appointees of his government, made it clear to them that they would leave office the moment lapses are observed.

He, however, congratulated the appointees, adding: “The people are looking upon us and we have to show them our style of leadership.

Prof. Emmanuel Echiegu, the new Chief of Staff to the governor, thanked the governor for appointing them and pledged that they would not disappoint him.

The Eastern Updates reports that the governor assigned portfolios to the new commissioners.

They include; Mr. Jude Okpor, Information; Mrs Ann Aligwe, Human Capital Development; Mrs Chinwe Okah, Budget and Planning; Chief Sunday Inyima, Capital Territory and Mr. Ogbonnaya Abara, Infrastructural Development, among others.

Recall that the Governor had recently sent a warning to politicians in the state on frequent congratulatory visits to government officials.

Nwifuru gave the warning while swearing-in the new Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike, in Abakaliki.

The governor, who also swore-in his Chief of Staff, Prof. Emmanuel Echiegu, said the government activities would pick up after the inauguration of commissioners.

He said: ‘We will hit the ground running and stop visitations which we have used the past two weeks to do.

“It is time to face governance as time waits for no one.

‘We mean business and must deliver our promises to the people as contained in the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’.

He stressed that his government has the capacity to provide good governance in the state and promised to pay attention to women in fulfillment of its campaign promises.
