The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah has set his administration the goal to increase the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from $4.4 billion to $30 billion in the nearest possible future.

Mbah, however, believes that for this to occur, Enugu State must be calm, safe, and secure because the governor has stated that protecting people’s lives and property comes first on his agenda.

To that purpose, Mbah met yesterday with a number of senior security officials and well-intentioned Enugu natives, a development he announced on his official Twitter account.

‘Yesterday, at the Enugu State Government House, I had a crucial meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor and other military personnel, traditional rulers, CSOs and stakeholders,” he stated.

‘In our plan to grow our economy and increase our GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, security of lives and properties is paramount.

We discussed the best way to ensure that Enugu State is peaceful, secure, and safe, to enable us work for our people without hitches.

‘My dear people of Enugu State, my promise to you is that I’ll make our state a home you will all be proud of,’ Mbah said.

The governor, thereafter, urged every indigene of Enugu to come home and invest in the state because this is their only home.

The Eastern Updates recall that Mbah recently restated his ban on Monday’s sit-at-home in Enugu as the governor believes it is highly detrimental to the economic development of the South-East state.

Mbah had declared an end to sit-at-home in the state effective from Monday, June 6, 2023, saying such orders were restricting creativity, entrepreneurship, and productivity in the state.

He, however, expressed the government’s readiness to engage in dialogue with people who have genuine grievances towards bringing lasting peace and security to Enugu State.
