On the 29th of May, the President and the Governors elected in different states from the 2023 general elections were sworn into office across the country.

Superstar musician, Davido however surprised many after he stormed Abia State and performed at Labour Party’s Alex Otti’s inauguration.

While many thought he was offered a huge sum of money to turn up at the event, Davido has now come out to clear the air about not getting a dime for his performance.

Davido’s disclosure came after a netizen identified as @Sports_Doctor2 wrote:

‘Many don’t know but Davido is Dr. Alex Otti’s godson and he’s in Umuahia at the inauguration after-party where he’s giving a full performance.

It’s a full-blown show in Umuahia 🔥🔥🔥.’

Replying, another tweep asked if the performance was free.

“Na free performance??,” the user asked.

Responding, Davido confirmed that he didn’t get a dime. He added that he has known Alex Otti all his life.

‘Not a dime I’ve known Excellency all my life … and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia state,”  the music star averred.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has vowed to commence the payment of May 2023 salaries and pensions to all civil servants and retirees in the state within the next few days, promising that under him, workers and pensioners will be getting their salaries before the 28th of every month.

Speaking on Monday after his inauguration, Otti expressed sadness with the distinction between the so-called ‘core’ and ‘non-core’ civil servants, adding that from June 2023, all salary and pension obligations of the state would be settled by the 28th of every month.

The Eastern Updates reports that Otti, who was sworn in at the Umuahia Township Stadium as the 5th democratically elected governor of Abia State, said all civil servants and retirees in the state shall, from this month, earn their legitimate entitlements as and when due.
