Mr. Emmanuel Ajah who is the Executive Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has stated that the activities of criminals have reduced drastically in Ishiagu community due to some of the actions they undertook.

The Eastern Updates recalls that there have been cases of alleged kidnapping of personalities, and raping of women by suspected herdsmen, who according to reports, were resident in one of the bushes located in the community.

However, Ajah, who assumed office eight months ago, attributed the success to the military, police, Department State Services, DSS, and other security agencies.

Ajah made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, a day after the commissioning of numerous projects in Ivo LGA, by the state governor, David Umahi.

He noted further that there was no longer youth restiveness or cult clashes in the council since he engaged the services of security operatives.

According to him: ‘There are no longer communal clashes. I did my best to solve these problems confronting the people of Ishiagu community. I made peace with everybody in the council.

‘There is a total peace now in Ishiagu, this is because I took it upon myself to ensure that all aggrieved persons are reconciled.’

A few days ago, the Police Command in the state had paraded about four suspects who were alleged to have been involved in the murder of Eze Christopher Ewa, the traditional ruler of Umuezeokaha community in Ezza North Local Government Area (LGA) in the state.

The monarch was killed in his compound on February 27 by men armed with AK-47 rifles believed to be members of a confraternity.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, told journalists that the command had been on the trail of all the criminals involved and that four key suspects had been arrested while others remained at large.
