Confusion As Fire Razes EFCC Building In Enugu

Reports reaching the desk of The Eastern Updates has that a mysterious fire has gutted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) South Eats Zonal Office in Enugu, the Enugu State capital.

The fire which began early Friday morning was eventually put out through the combined efforts of the Enugu State and Federal Fire Service.

According to a statement by the EFCC Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, the inferno was triggered by a surge in public power supply.

The fire affected One of the buildings within the Zonal Command destroying properties that are yet to be quantified but no casualty was recorded.

Meanwhile, the state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was among the early callers to commiserate with the commission.

The Eastern Updates had earlier in the week reported that the anti-graft agency had confirmed the arrest of eighteen suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu State.

In a statement on Tuesday by the spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren which was sent to The Eastern Updates said they were picked from different locations within the state.

The suspects included; Chigozie Philips, founder of Holy Family School in Abakpa, where he allegedly trains prospective cybercriminals.

Thirteen of Phillips protégés were apprehended during a sting operation on Monday.

They are Joacin Kelvin, Kelechi Ibe, Chinonso James, Udeh Isaiah, Michael Chukwuemeka, Kingsley Okorie, Henry Chidiebere, Elochukwu Chukwuemeka Michael, Nelson Nnaji.

Others include Desmond James, Ozoma Chinonso Anthony, Uchenna Aka, Ozor Celestine, Ifeanyi Ozor Bright, Etuma John, Okafor Chukwuemeka, Raymond Chinaza.
