Gunmen Kidnap IMT Student In Enugu

A student of the Institute of Management and Technology Enugu, Enugu State whose name was given as Stanley Ogwo has reportedly been kidnapped by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen. 

Stanley, son of a presenter with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Godwin Ogwo, was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday while on his way to school from his Emene residence.

Ogwo, who confirmed the incident to The Eastern Updates asserted that his son is in National Diploma student at the institute.

He said his son was abducted in a commercial bus he boarded to school and that the abductors have contacted him.

‘They merely asked if we are ready to comply; I was confused and I switched off the phone,’ he said.

He, however, noted that abductors were yet to make their demand.

‘Yes, we have been talking with them and they have said they want money but they are yet to mention the amount,’ he added.

In another report, the Police in Enugu State have arrested 26 members of different cult groups.

They were arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Enugu on Thursday and remanded in the Correctional Service.

The Eastern Updates reports that the arrest came amid the ongoing rival cult war in the State which has claimed about 30 lives in Nsukka, Agbani, and Enugu metropolis.

This was confirmed through a statement made available to journalists by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.

He said they were arrested by Police Operatives of the Command’s Anti-cultism Squad and subsequently arraigned before the court.
