Ahead of the gubernatorial elections coming up in Imo State, aspirant and a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dr. Charles Ugomuoh has expressed confidence that he will win the primary election for the Labour Party gubernatorial ticket scheduled to hold on the 14th of April, 2023, stressing that he is the most experienced and qualified.

The erstwhile police chief pointed out that he has already been endorsed by the Aboh Mbaise council leaders of the party, adding that they had also presented him to leaders of the party in the other local governments in the state.

Ugomuoh who stated this during a press conference in Owerri, the Imo State capital at the weekend, said: ‘I am very confident of winning the Imo Labour Party gubernatorial ticket once there is a level playing ground for all. The national leadership of the party has also said that it will provide a level playing ground. I have been mobilising for the party before this time. LP is an organic party and not for moneybags but for those who are passionate to change the ugly narratives, which have been our lot both at the state and national levels. So, I am not just in the race to make up the numbers but I am the most experienced and qualified.

He added: ‘I already have my blueprint prepared because I know that if I eventually win the gubernatorial ticket I will win the governorship of the state in November. And as a security expert and an astute technocrat, I have the key to end the prevailing insecurity in the state and bring back peace and progress in Imo state and it is not rocket science.’

Continuing, he said: ‘If elected into office I will offer new governance structure into Imo state where issues of social infrastructure, electricity, health, education and security will be provided as part of the prerogative of governance,’ he said.
