Less than a day after the convoy of the former Governor of Imo State, Mr. Ikedi Ohakim, was attacked by gunmen, and four of his orderlies were killed in the process, a police post at Afor Atta in Njaba Local Government Area of the State has been set ablaze by gun welding hoodlums.

An eyewitness who witnessed the attack told The Eastern Updates that the incident happened last night as the hoodlums threw explosives into the premises of the station.

No life was lost according to the source because none of the officers were on duty when the incident occurred.

It will be recalled that the same police station was attacked in 2021.

Ohakim, who escaped when he was attacked had his backup car attacked killing the four police officers in his convoy.

He was returning after a visit with two of his children, according to information provided by our source.

According to a source close to the former governor, the driver’s quickness allowed the ex-governor to escape.

The former governor was the main target, but his driver was clever enough to outsmart them because they were driving to obstruct him, the source claimed.

Because their primary target had gotten away, they burned his backup car by blocking it. Along with him, four officers were burned.

The Eastern Updates reports that a reinforcement escorted him to his home from Owerri, the state capital.
