Unknown Gunmen Allegedly Kill Army Major In Anambra

Unknown Gunmen yesterday allegedly killed a military man identified as Major Churchill Orji at Azia, in Ihiala Local Council of Anambra State.

The Eastern Updates gathered that the late soldier was killed during an operation in notorious Azia axis, in Ihiala. A schoolmate of the deceased, Leonard Edu, who confirmed the incident, yesterday, said the soldier is from Agulu area of the state.

Edu said: ‘He was my senior in Agulu Boys Secondary School. He was our labour prefect then. It’s true unknown gunmen at Azia, in Ihiala, killed him.

Also, another source reported that unknown gunmen killed a soldier, who is an Anambra indigene, Major C Orji, in Ihiala/Azia axis.

In the meantime, the Anambra Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, could not confirm the incident, because according to him, he was yet to receive any report about the incident.

Meanwhile, commuting within the Onitsha-Owerri Road, Anambra State has continued to become a difficult task on a daily basis, following the bad shape of the road, especially at the popular Upper Iweka axis, near the River Niger Bridge.

It was a harvest of falls for trucks as about three trucks fell and one broke down on the road on Sunday.

A truck carrying scraps fell on one side at Upper Iweka and emptied its contents on the road on Friday as it was heading out of Onitsha.

This is just as another truck carrying beverage drinks coming from the River Niger head bridge also fell at the same spot on the other lane heading towards Owerri.d portions of the road.

Both incidents, it was gathered, happened on Friday, while the broken down truck was said to have happened last week.
