Encomiums Pour In As Paddy Obinna Opens Art Gallery

The town of Emekuku in Owerri North LGA, Imo State was agog on Sunday as renowned artist and publisher, Paddy Obinna officially opened his arts gallery amidst wild jubilations and merriments. 

The event which was held on Sunday 13th March 2022 also doubled as the birthday celebration of the 78 year old highly sought artist.

The event drew the presence of so many high profile dignitaries from Imo State, Nigeria and even beyond as many of them took turns to eulogise the achievements of the arts guru.

Paddy who is currently the Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzondinma on culture is also a writer, newspaper publisher and celebrated Igbo culture ambassador.

Speaking to The Eastern Updates, Paddy disclosed expressed his joy at the occasion while also thanking the Imo State ministry of Arts and Culture for their efforts in making the day a success.

He also called on the people of the State, particularly young people to take advantage of arts as a means of expressing themselves and also to earn a living.

Obinna also appealed to Governments at all levels to embrace ways of promoting culture and tradition and preserving them.

Speaking at the event, the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, pointed out that Paddy Obinna deserves all the accolades he is getting while promising to do his best to ensure that the arts gallery is promoted to attract tourists and compete globally.

Highlights at the event were the cutting of a gigantic birthday cake for the celebrant, unveiling of various magnificent artwork portraits for various individualss including, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzondima, Former Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Diocese, AJV Obinna who also doubles as the younger brother to the celebrant and many others.
