An State High Court in Onitsha, Anambra State has sentenced two men identified as Valentine Umezinwa and Emeka Okolonji, to death over the killing of a female sex worker a few months ago.

The Eastern Updates gathered that they were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder of a sex worker, Blessing Eze who was also known as Golden.

Affording to findings which were confirmed by prosecutors, the convicts lured, murdered and dumped Blessing’s body near Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) roundabout in Onitsha.

The judge said they failed to show enough reason why justice should be tempered with mercy.

‘The counsel has the option to appeal as well as go through the Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy as the Governor has the final say,’ he averred.

The prosecutor, N. S. Emeka, said justice had been served on the deceased, the state and the convicts.

Defence counsel, Chimezie Okeke, disclosed that they would approach the Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.

The Eastern Updates had a few weeks ago reported that the Anambra State Police Commissioner, Echeng Eworo, had ordered all the hotels operating in the State to henceforth promptly submit their guest lists daily to the nearest divisional police station in their areas or face serious sanctions.
