The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named the Senator representing Anambra Central in the red chambers of the national assembly, Uche Ekwunife as the Chairperson of the Valentine Ozigbo Governorship Campaign Council.
Her appointment was announced Sunday evening during a briefing at the residence of Uche Secondus, PDP National Chairman.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal, PDP Governors Forum Chairman, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom joined via phone conference.
At the last meeting of the forum held in July in Bauchi, a panel of five governors was set up to reconcile all former aspirants and aggrieved members with Ozigbo.
The body included Tambuwal, Finitiri, Emmanuel, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo, and Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue.
Speaking today, Tambuwal predicted that with Ekwunife’s emergence and other plans to be unveiled soon, the PDP is set to seal the November 6 election.
‘We have a history of doing political exploits in elective office contests in the state, especially at the National Assembly level, and we are set to replicate our successes in November,’ Secondus boasted.
Tambuwal said the party’s Governors’ Forum was tasked to do what was necessary to reconcile with Ekwunife and other key stakeholders.
Ekwunife urged all PDP faithful to put in their very best to ensure that the party wins the governorship race.
In his response, Ozigbo thanked the PDP and governors for their efforts and urged them not to relent until the party wins.
The Eastern Updates recalls that Ozigbo emerged as the winner of the PDP primary on June 26.
Ozigbo named Mrs. Azuka Enemo, a former two-time Commissioner of Local Government Affairs, as his running mate on July 29.
