Former Anambra State Governor and Presidential Candidate of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, Peter Obi, has stated that granting amnesty to bandits would encourage more people to take to crime.
The Anambra-born politician stated this on Monday in Abuja at the public presentation of a book titled: ‘Made in Aba‘ authored by Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

Speaking further, Obi said it was unacceptable to pay people for going into crime.
He said instead of giving amnesty to bandits and paying the ransom to free captives, the Federal Government should reward hard work and support small businesses.
He also urged the federal government to fight poverty first if it is really serious to address insecurity.
