The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Saturday led a delegation of the All Progressives Congress in the South-East to Anambra State over the November governorship election in the state.
During the visit, Uzodinma boasted that APC would win the next governorship election in the state and that at the appropriate time, ‘forces will be mobilised to do the battle.’
Others in the governor’s delegation were the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani; and Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor.
Others included the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr Uche Ogah; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Senator Orji Kalu; and the Director-General, National Inland Waterways Authority, Chief George Moghalu.
Uzodinma said APC would take over Anambra State in 2022 if members would be united.
While assuring governorship aspirants in the November election in the state of a level playing field, the governor disclosed that the party had no anointed candidate in the race.
He enjoined the people of the state to vote for a party that is in control at the centre.
He said, ‘We will win Anambra State in the November election. At the appropriate time, the forces will be mobilised to do the battle.
‘We are working on reconciliation of aggrieved members and in the end, victory shall be ours.’
Onu, on his part, said, ‘It is in our own interest to produce an APC governor in Anambra State.’
Nnamani and Ngige described Anambra State as strategic in the economic development of the country.
They regretted that the state had failed to be at the centre since 2006 because of ‘wrong voting pattern’, saying the ‘anomaly‘ must be corrected this time around.
The state Chairman of the APC caretaker committee, Chief Basil Ejidike, regretted that most members of the party in the state who made sacrifices had not been rewarded.
According to him, ‘This trend is inimical to the progress of the party, and has not served as a source of encouragement to our members.’
