Barr. Willie Amadi Proposes Amendment To New Imo AJCL Law

The Federal Commissioner representing Imo state in the Public Complaints Commission Nigeria, Barrister Willie Amadi has submitted his transcript of the proposed amendment to the Imo State Administrative of Criminal Justice Law.

In his letter to the speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, he detailed that Sections 484 and 485 of the bill should be amended to cover for persons below the age of 18 years and people of unsound mind.

Dear Mr. Speaker,

Please find below my recommended wordings for the proposed amendment to Sections 484 and 485 of the Imo State Administrative of Criminal Justice Law 2020. ACJL.⚖

“Where any person or persons below the age of 18 years and or of unsound mind has been convicted by a COURT OF COMPETENT jurisdiction, such court shall order the GOVERNOR to detain such a person or persons in such a custodial or psychiatric home or any other facility as the COURT may direct the Governor of the State to do”

The above represents my proposed draft of the wordings for consideration during the proposed amendments by the House.
