The abductors have reached out to the family demanding a N100m ransom for their release.

According to reports, family members and the community have started contributions towards meeting the demand of the kidnappers.

They have also appealed to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and security agencies to come to the rescue of the family.

An unconfirmed report indicated that another kidnap incident occurred on Monday along Omu-Aran highway.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the state police command headquarters, in Ilorin, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, on Tuesday, were not successful as phone calls and a text message sent to her were not responded till the time of filing this report.

In other news, tragedy struck on Sunday as a bus filled with passengers heading to celebrate Christmas was involved in a devastating accident in Ohafia, Abia State. Initial reports suggest that several lives may have been lost in the horrific crash, leaving the community in shock and mourning during what was meant to be a festive season.

The devastating crash occurred at the crumbling Mmuri Bridge, a notorious stretch of the Bende-Abam-Ohafia road, which has long been in a state of disrepair. The bridge, often described as a hazard by locals, became the site of a tragic accident that claimed the lives of several passengers.

Eyewitnesses have reported that the truck, loaded with heavy construction materials, swerved to avoid a perilously damaged section of the Mmuri Bridge. In the process, it toppled over onto a 10-seater bus, which was packed with passengers, further intensifying the tragedy and highlighting the risks posed by the bridge’s dilapidated state.
