Barcelona coach Hansi Flick announced on Friday that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is set to make his return this weekend against Las Palmas in La Liga, following a three-week absence due to injury.
The young winger’s comeback is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the squad.Sidelined with an ankle injury since early November, the 17-year-old’s absence has been keenly felt by Barcelona, who have secured just one point in the two league fixtures played during that period. His unavailability has cast a spotlight on the team’s dependence on his dynamic contributions.
“Lamine Yamal is back and he’s ready to play. We haven’t decided yet if he’ll start, but he will play,” Flick told reporters ahead of Saturday’s game.
Across 16 appearances this season, Yamal has scored six goals and assisted eight more, a testament to his consistent impact in front of goal and his vision in creating opportunities for his teammates.

Barcelona, who sit at the top of the table, have struggled in La Liga without him in the starting lineup, failing to win any of the three matches he missed. This includes a 4-2 defeat to Osasuna in September, a game where his impact was limited to watching from the bench.
Barcelona are four points clear of Real Madrid but have played a game more than the defending champions.
Flick also said Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo is nearing a comeback after undergoing surgery in July for a hamstring injury he sustained while playing for his country at the Copa America.
