A coalition of advocates, the Niger Delta Advocacy Network for Good Governance and Transparency, is warning of a looming showdown at the National Assembly if the Federal Government fails to take decisive action against the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) amidst the unrelenting fuel scarcity plaguing the nation.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator Okpako Theophilus, the Niger Delta Advocacy Network for Good Governance and Transparency has denounced the prolonged fuel scarcity and the exploitative prices that have followed, with residents in oil-producing states being forced to pay up to N1000 per liter.

Okpako Theophilus, National Coordinator of the Niger Delta Advocacy Network for Good Governance and Transparency, has called out President Bola Tinubu, referencing the recent #EndBadGovernance protests sparked by fuel scarcity.

Theophilus expressed bewilderment at the NNPCL management’s continued presence despite their apparent inability to effectively manage the petroleum sector.

The Niger Delta Advocacy Network for Good Governance and Transparency has threatened to shut down the National Assembly with a protest if the NNPCL leadership is not removed by Friday. The group accuses the leadership of undermining President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and demands immediate action.

The Niger Delta Advocacy Network has made shocking allegations of racketeering against top government officials in NNPCL, who are accused of exploiting the purchase of petroleum products for personal gain. This corruption has exacerbated the economic struggles faced by everyday Nigerians.

“We are calling on Mr. President as a matter of urgency to sack the head of NNPCL because it is obvious he is working against the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” it sated.

It was alleged that as long as he remains involved in NNPCL, Nigerians will continue to witness the prevailing irregularities. The group warned that if the President does not dismiss him by Friday, they will take their grievances to the National Assembly and demand his removal through protest.
