There is heavy security as leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, converged at the National Secretariat of the party for its National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The Eastern Updates reports that all roads leading to the venue of the meeting on Blantyre Street have been cordoned off by a combined team of armed security men including soldiers from the Guards Brigade.
In the same vein, vehicular and human movements on Blantyre Street have also been restricted.
Some early arrivals at the venue include all members of the National Working Committee, NWC, as well as members of the Forum of State Chairmen, former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
The leader of the party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma, Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, are expected to be in attendance.
The NEC meeting comes a day after the national caucus meeting of the party at the Presidential Villa, also in Abuja.
In other news, President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over a meeting of the national caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja.
The Eastern Updates reports that this is President Tinubu’s first meeting of this nature since assuming office in May 2024.
The high-level meeting is taking place at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, with key party leaders in attendance.
Those present include Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
Ganduje was accompanied by nine other members of the National Working Committee, NWC, including the deputy national chairmen (North and South), national secretary, legal adviser, treasurer, organising secretary, women leader, youth leader, and leader of persons living with disabilities.
