The Department of State Services (DSS) has revealed a breakthrough in its investigation into the mysterious appearance of foreign flags at protests in northern states, as they confirmed the arrest of those responsible for funding these provocative displays.
A disturbing trend has emerged in several northern states, where unidentified individuals have been seen brandishing foreign flags, sparking widespread concern and unease across the nation.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has activated its investigative machinery to unravel the mystery of the foreign flag displays, with a promise to disclose the findings and unmask the sponsors of this audacious move.

“Now, people have started manifesting attitudes that are inimical to the security, welfare, and orderliness of society. So, we won’t cross our hands. We have arrested the sponsors of those who did the flag. It is not just that children are flying flags. No. There is more to that,” the DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya said in Abuja during a briefing of security agencies.
“There are some aspects of our operations that we may not sit before the camera and begin to reel out either because of their sensitivity or we are not supposed to say them now or because there are ongoing investigations and we may not say things to jeopardise those investigations,” he said.
“But I can assure you, be patient with us. You will hear from us sooner than later. We are not sleeping over the issues. We would take it to the end and you would be surprised if at all, we declare the information to the public.”
Amidst the controversy, some Nigerians have raised doubts about the origin of the flags, suggesting they may not be Russian despite their striking resemblance. Observant citizens point to footage of presidential speeches where the flags were displayed alongside the Nigerian national flag, leading them to believe it might actually be the flag of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
