Soludo Reassures Umuoji Community Of Justice For Killed PG

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has assured the people and inhabitants of Umu­oji community that his administration will do everything necessary to bring justice to their slain President General, Chief Sly Onyima.

The late Chief Onyima, who was murdered recently in his hometown at the age of fifty-seven, was also a knight of Saint Christopher, Diocese on the Niger.

Soludo, who spoke through the Commissioner for Local Govern­ment, Chieftaincy and Communi­ty Affairs, Tony-Collins Nwabun­wanne, during the burial service of the deceased at Saint Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Umuoji, thanked Umuoji people and Onyima family for maintaining law and or­der, and urged them not to lose hope, but to continue to believe in God who knows the heart of man.

Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, who attended the ceremony, de­scribed the late Onyima as a peace­ful and hard-working President Gen­eral, and urged the family to bear the loss with fortitude.

Delivering a sermon during the church service, the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo, represented by Venerable Ikechukwu Ihentuge, reminded all that gathered that once one is dead, all his investments, wealth, knowl­edge, cares and greediness will also be over.

Bishop Nwokolo, who tagged his sermon, “The game of life will soon be over”, urged the faithful to always use their God-given talents to work for Him while alive as the late Sly did in Umuoji and at state level.

In their separate interviews, the immediate elder brother to the de­ceased, Chief Festus Oyima, Cousin and one-time Commissioner for In­formation in the state, Chief Tony Onyima, as well as the current first Vice Chairman, Umuoji Improve­ment Union, Chief lfeanyi Muoeme­nam, said the life of the late Sly was short but impactful, and thanked the state government for its assistance and efforts to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book.

In his remark, the Regent of Umuoji, Chief Christopher Nnedu, said the life of the late Sly was char­acterized by charity, sincerity, love and openness, and urged the family and Umuoji people to emulate his footsteps.
