Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah of has submitted the name of Mr Chijioke Okonkwo to the state House of Assembly for confirmation as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The Eastern Updates reports that the names of Mr Chinedum Ukabara, Mr Chuka Akunne and Mr Ruben Okoye were also forwarded to the assembly for confirmation as commissioners in the commission.
The names contained in a letter forwarded to the House, which was read by the Speaker, Chief Uche Ugwu, during the house emergency plenary on Monday.
The speaker then directed the nominees to submit 25 copies of their curriculum vitae to the clerk of the House and appear before the Assembly on Wednesday, 13 March, 2024 for screening and confirmation.

During the plenary, the House passed for the first reading the Enugu State University of Science and Technology Amendment Bill.
The speaker enjoined his colleagues to study the bill for a robust debate during its second reading on a later date.
In another report, a yet-to-be identified woman and mother of three little children in Enugu State has reportedly committed suicide in Enugu.
The Eastern Updates gathered from reliable sources that the woman allegedly ran into a moving vehicle and died instantly, following her husband’s departure from her and their three children due to financial difficulties.
It was further gathered that the incident happened over the weekend in front of Ogui Police Station, Enugu.
It was learned that the woman, whose identity was not known and suspected to be suffering from depression, dropped her three young children at the police station, pulled her clothes, and ran naked into a moving vehicle which crushed her to death.
The eldest of the children, when asked about their father, said their father “got lost.”
