The President of the Nigerian Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio has assured Ndi Igbo that President Bola Tinubu is determined to take care of the Southeast.

This was as Akpabio said the president will extend the same care to the North Central, South South, North East, and Nigeria in general.

He made this assertion while addressing journalists at St Michael’s Catholic Parish, Mbeke Ishieke in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Represented by his deputy, Senator Jibrin Barau, Akpabio said the Tinubu-led federal government has great confidence in the leadership of the South East.

“You can see the confidence the president has in the leadership of the South East, so feel at home.

“The South East is going to be taken care of by Mr President including North Central, South South, North East, and Nigeria at large.

“And it is going to be done in a manner that no one will ever be left behind in the distribution of the nation’s wealth,” he said.

Since his emergence as president, the Southeast has been agitating for the betterment of the region.

Among their agitations was the call for Tinubu to order the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In another report, Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed further hearing for March 4th in a fresh N1billion suit filed by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu against the Federal Government and three others.

The others are the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the Department of State Services (DSS) and its Director General.

Justice James Omotosho rescheduled hearing in the fundamental rights enforcement suit on Monday owing to the absence of the applicant’s lawyer.

At the mention of the case, no lawyer announced appearance for the applicant, while the respondents were represented by two lawyers – Enoch Simon (for the Fed Govt and the AGF) and I. Awo for the DSS.
