Abia State Security Destroys Criminals’ Hideouts

Officials of Abia State government security agencies have destroyed structures believed to be used by criminals in Aba, the commercial capital of the state.

The raid on the criminals’ hideouts came as the government told landlords that anyone whose building is used by robbers, kidnappers and drug dealers, among other criminals, will be prosecuted, and such buildings demolished.

The exercise took place at the Aba abattoir and the abandoned Enyimba Hotel.

Several shanties, which served as shelters for pick-pockets, drug peddlers, were pulled down.

Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede, Commanding Officer 144 Battalion, Major Sunday Fejo and heads of other security agencies witnessed the demolition.

It was gathered that the exercise was a result of several weeks of investigations and intelligence gathering by security operatives in the state and Aba in particular.
