Group Berates Ndume For Disparaging Remarks About Tinubu

Listen to article

The political sphere just got a whole lot more interesting, thanks to a heated exchange between Senator Ali Ndume and the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL).

The senator’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu was met with a swift and scathing rebuke from the youth group, who labeled his comments “baseless” and “divisive.” It’s clear neither side is backing down.

Senator Ali Ndume sparked controversy on Wednesday when he claimed that President Bola Tinubu has been “fenced off and caged” by certain forces, preventing him from addressing the country’s economic woes.

Ndume’s remarks have raised eyebrows, with many questioning who these forces are and what their motives might be.

Senator Ali Ndume pulled no punches on Wednesday, accusing the Nigerian government of being hijacked by “kakistocrats and kleptocrats” – a damning indictment that suggests the country’s leadership has been hijacked by self-serving interests.

COSEYL has called out Senator Ali Ndume for his selective amnesia, wondering why he remained silent during the Buhari administration’s tenure, when many of the same economic issues were prevalent. “Why the sudden concern now?” the group asked in a statement, implying that Ndume’s criticism is politically motivated.

Part of the statement reads: “Ali Ndume lost his voice during the tenure of President Buhari. He now suddenly regained his voice because a southern person was the President.

“If all the projects, empowerments, and other dividends of democracy approved for the good people of Borno South senatorial zone through Ndume were delivered to them, the youths of that senatorial zone will be gainfully employed and will not be available for crime and other terrorist activities.

“We call on Nigerians to disregard the statement by Senator Ndume, who only speaks against the government, using the poor Nigerians as cover when his personal interests are not met.”
